If the resolution does not look correct, or the display seems distorted, the first thing you would want to do, is attempt to adjust the resolution within Windows Resolution Settings

  • Control Panel > Display > Adjust Resolution
  • Normally you would want the resolution to be on the maximum settings
  • If this still looks distorted, try adjust to a smaller setting
  • If that looks worse, move on to checking drivers, in steps below

If the resolution looks slightly distorted on display, it is likely the drivers are outdated or need to be re-installed.

  • Confirm drivers up to date - Device Manager > Display Adapters
  • Confirm connections and cable are all correct as well

If display drivers are updated, 3rd party software may need to be installed.

One example of this would be AMD Catalyst software, for AMD video cards.

  1. Open computer tower and confirm video card is AMD
  2. Go to http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
  3. Use the "Automatically Detect and Install Your Driver" feature
  4. Reboot machine after download and install
  5. If resolution does not auto correct itself, you may need to open the AMD Catalyst software, and manually adjust the resolution with its settings
